Our client a leader in engineering and construction services seeks to employ an experience Structural Supervisor to join their team on a 12 month contract to be based in Secunda, Mpumalanga
The Role:
The Structural Supervisor will assist Construction Managers by planning, organising and managing structural activities of various crews in his team, in order to achieve daily, weekly and monthly productivity targets as detailed by the base plan or dictated output and progress plans/ schedules whilst following all required safety protocols to protect employees, plant and equipment.
KPI's include (but not limited to):
*High standards of health and safety, regulations, codes and quality compliance.
*Personnel management and development.
*Equipment and materials management.
*Time management.
*Functional reporting.
*Relationship management.
*Planning and scheduling.
*Policies, processes, procedures and standards compliance.
*Risk management.
*High quality inspections and audits.
*General office administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Responsible for profit & losses.
*Manage and control allowable man hours for erection tasks and ensure budgets are met and improved.
*Ensure all bolting/ erection equipment is checked regularly (daily, monthly, quarterly) according to the relevant protocol or act.
*Update and assist in the drawing up of construction schedules and properly communicating this to the team members in order to ensure common understanding and goals.
*Ensure high standards for structural erecting without compromising quality of work.
*Be responsible for pre- planning of production, and communicate schedules and drawings.
*Ensure all erecting targets/ outputs are met timeously and accurately by double checking.
*Ensure proper supervision of crews and ensure obstacles are mitigated/ removed in order to ensure /facilitate the crew's ability to complete the work.
*Obtain necessary drawings for the task ahead.
*Plan tasks in such a way that it minimizes time and material wastage.
*Manage time and attendance, performance and general discipline of the crew and keep accurate and detailed records with original documents given to IR/ HR.
*Provide advice and guidance to team members on structural steelwork and provide a mentoring platform for team members.
*Identify, and where possible, remove or resolve any hurdles that may impact on the team's ability to complete the task set for the day/ week.
*Ensure high standards of safety and quality for all erecting operations.
*Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders for the purpose of receiving instructions, answering questions, scheduling work, carrying out assignments and providing information about work in progress.
*Maintain general housekeeping by ensuring area of responsibility is kept neat and tidy at all times and all departmental records, data and documents are properly filed.
Qualifications and Experience:
*A recognized trade in the field of Structural Engineering with N3 or equivalent NQF Level.
*A suitable level of 'on the job' experience in the Pre- Assembly and erection of all types of structural steel.
*10 years' experience in steel erection and the use of cranes/bolting equipment.
*Able to read GA and detailed studies, crane charts and rigging studies.
*Experience with using the tools of trade i.e. Dumpy Levels, Micrometers, Theorolites.
*Basic knowledge of Labour, Industrial and Human Relations
